Understanding Foot Odor And Its Main Basis

Foot Odor may very well be described as sort of body odor that affects the feet of humans and is usually considered to be an distasteful odor. Foot odor may be a typical problem among males, however female smelly feet is also a standard problem. Everyone who wears shoes or socks that don't let the feet to breathe for a long time can develop foot odor.

The primary root is foot sweat. Sweat by itself is unscented, in spite of this it creates a valuable environment for several bacteria growing and create bad-smelling substances. These bacteria are biologically present on our skin as a part of man's flora.
Hence, extra smell is created with factors causing more sweating and this also means wearing shoes and/or socks with too little air ventilation (architecture) for a lot of hours.

Hair within the feet, principally about the toes, may develop the odor's depth by adding increased surface area where the bacteria can succeed. The principle is very like the arm pit. More hair plus more sweat equals more odor.

The Heart Needs to Work Harder During the Winter Season

The human heart is an amazing organ. It is the only pump that works tirelessly, round the clock with perfect precision. However, in order for it to carry out its set task by beating rhythmically and without a murmur (pun intended) the conditions need to be favorable. It is not just the condition of the human body that needs to be perfect, the climate needs to be ideal as well.

During cold winter months when the temperature drops considerably, and it gets miserably cold, the blood vessels get constricted. This in turn will restrict the supply of blood to the heart. Reduced blood supply could well result in angina and/or blockage in the arteries and lead to a heart attack. People with high risk factors like high blood pressure, high level of cholesterol in the blood need to watch out. Diabetics and heavy smokers also need to take extra care as they fall in the high-risk category as well. Obesity is directly related to the normal functioning of the heart hence even people who border on obesity need to put in extra effort to keep the weight down. When there is a family history of heart disease and people suffering from congenital heart defects should be vigilant during the winter months.

The oxygen requirement of the heart increases drastically during the cold season as it has to work harder to keep the body warm. There could be a sudden surge in blood pressure levels early in the mornings which again could lead to complications or even an attack for people who are already prone to it. Reduction in daylight hours and the subsequent mad rush to complete assigned tasks before dusk is a major contributory factor as well. This could actually result in a change in the circadian rhythm or body clock. Anxiety caused due to work pressure results in increased heart rate and blood pressure and cortisol levels in the blood.

It is advisable to prepare well for any such contingencies. Exercising would be very good for the heart; however people who are afflicted already need to take care to start up slowly as the cardiovascular system can only adapt to slow and progressive changes. Gentle warming to begin with would be ideal. It is preferable to exercise for short periods of about 15 minutes and take small breaks to let the body recover. It is advisable not to drink coffee or smoke a cigarette during any such breaks as the very purpose would get defeated. People who are starting on a regimen of exercise for the first time need to take it a bit easy.

The idea is to train and not strain. It is advisable to consult a doctor before embarking, more importantly if one has been leading a sedentary life for a long time. A well planned diet, preferably after consulting a qualified dietician, would go a long way in leading a healthy and comfortable life without any complications. Inclusion of green leafy vegetables and a generous quantity of salads should be made a part of our daily food intake. Yoga and meditation are known to have worked wonders for most people. Surveys have proved that junk foods have led to a steady increase in the percentage of obesity and chronic heart ailments. Diabetics are prone to heart ailments as they normally do not feel any pain when the heart is overburdened and never even realize that they are having a heart attack when they are actually having one. All the more important for us to take precautionary measures rather than going for extended periods of medication. Let us resolve to endeavor to lead a healthy and happy life.

What's The Biggest Problem For Americans?

Thirty-two percent of men and 34% of women were obese in 2011. A report presented to the American Heart Association predicted 43% of men and 42% of women could be obese by 2020. Some cardiovascular risk factors have decreased since 1988 – smoking, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. However, weight gain, diabetes and pre-diabetes have increased. If these trends continue, diabetes and pre-diabetes in women could increase from 6.3% and 37% respectively to 8.3% and 44%. The numbers for men aren't much better. It seems the U.S. has become a country of "weight-watchers" – watching their weight increase.

A mother's relationship with her young child could cause the child to be obese as a teenager. This is the finding of a study published in the journal Pediatrics. Researchers looked at data for 977 children nationwide. The data documented relationship characteristics between mothers and their toddlers. More than 25% of the children with poor relationships with their mothers were obese by age 15 compared to 13% of the children who were close to their mothers. It seems brain areas covering emotions and stress work with areas controlling appetite and energy balance. However, mothers might want additional research "fathered".

Morning snacking interferes with weight loss. A Study published in the Journal of the American Dietetic Association included 123 overweight and obese women ages 50-75. Although 97% ate snacks daily, 19% snacked between 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. Forty-eight percent of morning snackers ate 3 or more snacks daily compared to 38.9% of evening snackers. Morning snackers lost 7% of their body weight in a year; women who didn't snack before lunch lost 11%. Americans are eating more frequently – not just when they're hungry. Because "mindless eating" doesn't mean we eat less at the next meal, we need to be "mindful".

When older, obese women regain weight, more is regained as fat – not muscle. The study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition included 78 obese women, average age 58, who'd lost 25 pounds in a previous diet study. Data for the regainers showed a change in body composition. Thirty-three percent of the lost weight was muscle, but muscle was only 20% of the regained weight. Previous studies have shown younger people regain weight in the same muscle/fat proportion they lost it, but that's not true for older people – and that is expected to include men. Age seems to put the fat in fate.

How Long Does Mono Last

How Long Does Mono Last – It is understandable that you want to know how long the mono lasts for after it enters the body.

When the Epstein Barr virus enters the body, a lot of people do not see symptoms right away. The virus can be in the body for a good 30 to 60 days before you can see the symptoms. Acute symptoms of mono can go on for a week to up to four weeks. They include :

loss of appetite

nausea

discharge from the respiratory system

headaches

tiredness

pain in the throat and more

The immune system plays an important role in how long mono stays for after it enters the body. If it is strong, it can take a week to two weeks to clear the symptoms. For other people, it can take months to get the symptoms cleared and others have had to deal with the symptoms of mono for years. This depends on the symptoms and how severe they are , as well as how strong your immune system is.

Mononucleosis tends to affect the younger generation more, and most people get it only once in their lives. However, a small percentage of those people have the mono symptoms coming back over and over again throughout their lives. These people will have to deal with the symptoms that keep coming back, like the sore throat, chronic fatigue and swollen lymph. How long does mono last is therefore dependent on the individual. If you battle mono for months, then you should go to the doctor to find out if there is anything wrong that is making your body unable to deal with it. Tests will be done to determine if you have other infections or conditions that could be compromising your health more than the mono. If you eat well and you are as healthy as you can be, the mono should clear. How quickly this happens will depend on how well you treat your body and how healthy you are. Food is important but it is also important to make sure that you have minimal stress and of course you need to get adequate time to rest. Find ways to boost your immune system, drink water so that you help flush out the toxins out of your body and fix your diet so that it is as healthy as it can be. Symptoms of mono last anywhere from a few days to a few years. Look after yourself, and you will not have to deal with mono for months or years.

What Is Mononucleosis

What is mononucleosis  or mono is what a lot of people want to know. To put it simply, it is a condition that is caused by the Epstein Barr virus, and anyone can get this virus, including men, women and children.

What is clear about this virus is that a lot of people are not able to recognize the symptoms of mono, because of the fact that the symptoms resemble that of a cold or flu.

Mono is extremely contagious and can be passed from one person to another quite easily, through saliva, that is why it is called the kissing disease. Saliva is not the only way to get the Epstein Barr virus, it can also be given to someone through sharing utensils or sharing food.

When the virus enters your body, often at times you will not even be aware, because it can take up to 2 months for the symptoms to start showing. Even when the systems do start showing, most people never think of mono, most just think that they have flu or a cold, so it can be difficult to know when you got the virus and from whom you got it from.

Alcohol Breathalyzers – Simple Devices to Detect Blood Alcohol Levels

Alcohol breathalyzers are simple and easy to use tools that detect blood alcohol levels. They are intended for personal as well as professional use to control alcohol abuse.

What are breathalyzers and how they work?
Breathalyzers are simple devices to find an estimated measure of blood alcohol content (BAC) from a breath sample. However, they do not directly find the blood alcohol levels. They determine the alcohol concentration in breath sample and calculate the corresponding BAC levels from it. Various technologies such as fuel cell, infrared spectrophotometer and semiconductor technologies are used by breathalyzers.

• Let's first know about electrochemical fuel cell breathalyzers. A chemical reaction occurs in the fuel cell and current is produced when an individual who consumed alcohol exhales into this breathalyzer. According to the readings of the current, BAC is estimated.

• Breathalyzers using infrared spectrophotometer technology measure alcohol levels using infrared light. Alcohol molecules present in the breath sample are absorbed by the infrared light. These devices are table-top models and are used only in research centers and police stations.

• Semiconductor breathalyzers include ethanol-specific sensors to detect alcohol abuse. On passing voltage, current is produced across the sensors which changes with the change in resistance created by the alcoholic molecules. This change in current is used to measure the BAC.

Diagnosis of Diabetes Mellitus

Diabetes mellitus is a disease caused by defective carbohydrate metabolism and characterized by abnormally large amounts of sugar in the blood and urine. Diabetes mellitus is usually classified into two types. Type I or "insulin-dependent" diabetes mellitus (IDDM), formerly called juvenile-onset diabetes, which occurs in children and young adults has been implicated as one of the autoimmune diseases. Type II or "non-insulin-dependent" diabetes mellitus (NIDDM), formerly called adult-onset diabetes is found in persons over 40 years old and progresses slowly.

Detection of Type II diabetes in the absence of symptoms starts with the measurement of the glucose levels in urine. If a high level is detected, the amount of blood sugar is measured after an overnight fast. A high value indicates diabetes, and those with a normal level then undergo an oral glucose tolerance test in which the amount of glucose in the blood is measured after ingestion of a large amount of sugar.

It is essential that diabetic patients are aware of the complications that can occur as a result of being diabetic to ensure that first symptoms of any possible illness are spotted before it can get worse.
