ZacharyMy husband has a hemmorhoid (External,i believe) and it has gotten a small slit in the middle that is bleeding. I am taking him to the doctor tomorrow, but was wondering can anyone give me a good idea of what to expect there.Especially what kind of treatment we might be looking at. Also would surgery even have to be on the table right now, we really don't want to do anything that extreme yet. Any Answers are appreciated.

CranfordHey,It’s most likely that your doctor will suggest a topical cream or lotion which will be applied to the hemorrhoid initially. These creams are generally not overly expensive and can be purchased through most drug stores/pharmacy’s. Unless the hemorrhoid is very advanced and causes severe pain, no one should be considering surgery just yet. Angels CityPersonally. I would have it removed. Especially if it's causing any discomfort. If it's not too bad and it's external, I believe the doctor can remove it right in the office.
