I have a hemorrhoid and it won't go away.Should I be concerned?
Ok, this is a serious issue, mature responses only.I'm a 22 year old female who has suffered from occasional episodes of hemorrhoids for about two years. In the past year, it has happen over 3 times, and it's becoming a nuisance and embarrassment because I am sexually active.I've tried all OTC ointments, wipes, eating more fiber, sitz baths, with little results.I just want it to go away.So I scheduled an appointment with a gastroenterologist.I don't know if I'm wasting my time though, because my ideal treatment would be laser or some sort of immediate removal, and that's only the case with severe situations.Mine is only mild, but it persists for weeks and I just can't take it anymore. So my question is, what should I expect from this visit? I'm sure the doctor will take a look at it, but is the first visit always just a consultation? I'm leaving a week later for vacation, I want him to take care of this thing now!!!!

What to expect when visiting a doctor for hemorrhoids?
I just went to the doctors because I was bleeding when I went to bathroom.I have one.The treatment sounds fun.NOT! I don't even know why I got one.

Why do you get a hemorrhoid or how?
I've had it for almost a year now and I'm starting to get really annoyed by it.I never really had a problem until now but it itches like hell every second of the day, I have bloody bowel movements, but it doesn't hurt much unless it's touched.I've tried witch hazel and vaseline, different hemorrhoid creams, and every home remedy on the internet.Nothing works.I really don't want to go to a doctor because I can't stand the idea of having someone analyze my butt. All of the symtoms seem like a hemorrhoid but it looks like a swollen vein (which I understand is what hemorrhoid is) it's doughnut shaped and stings when it's touched and the rest of the sphinctor is hard, swollen, and has a purple-ish tint.I just don't know if it's a hemorrhoid because most pictures of hemorrhoids are like round pollyps.I don't know :/ should I suck it up and see a doctor or is there a treatment I haven't tried?( I've tried the Sitz bath, an assortment of creams, the witch hazel thing, eating more fiber, fruits, and water, and countless other things that fail to have an effect )

Is it a hemorrhoid? I know it's gross but I want a serious answer?
Im a "virgin" to Hemorrhoids, and i think i may have an internal one, from what i have read. Some sites say they'll clear up in up to two months, others a week, im just wondering because the pain is annoying me, im neglecting doing certain things such as bending over, getting up because this is when it hurts most.So how long should i wait before I see a Doctor? What can I do EASILY to help it on its way? By this I mean I dont have time for 4 small baths every day, like some places suggest.I could really just use some guidance.

how long will a hemorrhoid last without treatment?
According to one of the books of Korean.the medical treatment for hemorrhoids, piles was using the leaves of a fig.The book refers to an actual story of a doctor who published a medical book in 400 years ago in Korea. The usage of medical treatment is using steam from boiling a water with a leave of a fig, Have you ever heard or read or tried it and recover it? I do not own the decease right now, however, if this is effective, I read more carefully, remember and tried these stating medical treatments some day not purchasing medicines in the market.

Have you heard or read about a medical treatment for hemorrhoids, piles?
I have a daughter, who is six months old.I noticed while I was pregnant that I had a bump on my anus.At the time, I thought nothing of it and had never even heard what a hemorrhoid was.I gave birth, got stitches down there, was given tucks pads and it seemed to go away. Now suddenly I have another, or maybe it's the same one, I'm not really sure.Yesterday it was red and protruding out and only went away when I pushed it back inside of my anus.I'm sorry this is very graphic but I am freaking out! I have no one to talk to about it either, and one of my friends said my doctor would laugh at me about it.How long will this take to go away? I was told it will go away on it's own but for some reason I don't believe that.I've done research online and I can't find anything helpful. Is there anything I can do to help it? How do I know if I need surgery? I'm already beyond worried, should I get a hold of my doctor? It doesn't hurt and I only noticed itchiness while I was pregnant.I'm afraid to have any sexual contact because I'm embarassed..and my birthday is next week so I need an at home treatment that is quick and effective.its about the size of half a penny

Hemorrhoid help please?
Are there doctors who specialize in hemorrhoids/treatment?

Can I see any other doctor for a hemorrhoid other than my obgyn or primary?
Male, early 30sSymptoms: inside the bum (where the cheeks are in constant contact) it has been quite red for months. The sphincter seems a little bit swollen. At its worst, it is quite itchy. At other times it has no associated pain or discomfort. My first thought was maybe it was a yeast issue.I went to the GP and she agreed and so prescribed a mixture of clotrimazole and hydrocortizone.I also started taking probiotics daily.Despite this, there has been no change (no better and no worse) in the condition after about a month of treatment.Any ideas what this could possibly be? The doctor ruled out hemorrhoids, although she did say that some of the blood vessels seemed mildly inflamed.

Why Don't These Doctors Get Sick?
Folks, I am suffering from both anal fussure and internal hemorrhoids from past 2months now and finding it extremely difficult at work due to the pain.Want to get this treated in Bangalore. Please suggest me a good hospital/doctor whom I can visit this weekend for consultation.Any tips or remedies to pain relief - most welcome.Have read many article on the web with relates to this and applied Nitrogesic cream too.No relief.Taken tabs like pilgo/ applied Osil cream/ Rectoline at the region. No relief.I have severe pain every time after passing the stool and it continues to get worst by each passing minute if i don't take 1/2 pain killers b4 leaving to work. The anal region burns, thrones like feeling in that place, cracks too.Have given up non-veg since 2months now.No alcohol, No spicy food - Still no signs of relief. It is extremely painful and one who has experienced it only knows. These days, I take every precaution to ensure the stool doesn't harden - but still after the bowel movement the pain picks up after 15mins and just goes on and on..I feel very embarrassed in this situation :-( Please suggest.

Which hemorrhoid product has worked best for you?

Johnston City

Which product or treatment have you found the most effective?

Adamsville

I try to keep these in mind:1. A Healthy High-Fiber DietSince hemorrhoids is associated with constipation and an uncomfortable bowel movement, it is only practical that we take care with what we eat and digest. Hemorrhoids come from the strain of excreting hard stools that we have to pressure out of our body. Fiber is known to help with our body's digestive process. With a high-fiber diet, we can help make digestion and excretion easier and less painful. High-fiber foods include vegetables and fruits, so be sure to include these in your meals. 2. Drink in Lots of WaterWater is also an essential part of making the illness easier to handle. Water also helps in regulating the digestive flow, and can also help in providing a smooth relief. Be sure to drink at least eight to ten glasses of water a day, and make this a habit. 3. Squatting and SittingNow this may not be the normal way we use the toilet, but the squatting stance has been mentioned to help with the treatment of hemorrhoids. This tip has not yet been criticized nor approved. Reports on the effect of using the squat position when on the toilet is highly suggestive that it can help, however. There is also the matter of the “sitting time limit.” Some doctors recommend that people with hemorrhoids avoid sitting for long periods of time. If it is possible to get your hands on an air doughnut, or any chair that does not cause discomfort when sitting, then do so. 4. Hydrotherapy or Sitz BathingSpeaking of sitting. a sitz bath is also recommended by some doctors, specifically a warm one. This process has to be done three times a day and after each bowel movement. Just sit in a tub with a few inches of warm water for 15 minutes. This will help to lessen the pain after your bowel movement. Just be sure to get dry thoroughly afterwards. 5. Medicine and/or Herbal TreatmentsOf course, taking medicine is also part of the hemorrhoid treatment. There are many creams, ointments, and drugs that are used to cure hemorrhoids. If you go for herbal treatment, then first find out which plant and herbs are effective against the illness. Aloe Vera is said to have a soothing effect. However, we have to remember, that the drugs and creams may have side effects. We also have to consider that they just provide temporary relief for the illness. Mine isn't all that serious, though, so I haven't gone onto 4 and 5, and I'm just maintaining a strict routine with 1,2,and 3. If you're looking for relief from the pain of hemorrhoids, then I suggest this product: .www.progressivehealth.com/catalog/Avatrol.htm

Red Hill

Hi sweet cheeks, The best best hemorroid product is one that treats the cause of the hemorrhoid. The problem most people face is they run out to the drug store and get an off the shelf product which to be fair to normally works but is really only a short term solution. The reason why these off the shelf products are only short term solutions is simple, they only treat the problem, itching bleeding etc.So a product that treats the cause of hemorrhoids and makes sure they never come back again has to be the best product right?Sweet Cheeks I wish you all the best with your problem.Peter

Who to see to get rid of hemorrhoids?

Bowling Green

I have health insurance but I don't have a primary care physician (haven't needed one yet and I'm not sure how to start looking lol), so who do I see about treatment of hemorrhoids? Do I just go to a hospital? Or should I look up doctors in my health insurance database- if so, then what type of doctor should I talk to?

Hamilton City

how bad are they? Most hemorrhoids will go away in a week or so. If you have a lot of them or they are particularly problematic then go see a doctor. You will want to start with a primary care physician so that s/he can determine the best course of action (your insurance most likely requires this) and s/he will either tell you how to treat them or refer you to a specialist.

Graettinger

try some preparation h. you can buy it at your local drugstore or supermarket. warning: do not mistakenly use it as toothpaste.it's been said that preparation h is one of the most shoplifted items because people are too embarassed to purchase it.i just checked their website. there's a lot of information you can read there. visit .www.preparationh.com/

Laurel

Just talk to your family physician about it and he may prescribe something that you can use.

East Tawakoni

Yeah, def don't use it as toothpaste, lol. Or Neosporin for that matter. Butt all jokes aside (heh), a Proctologist would be your best bet if the Prep H doesn't work for you. They are doctors who specialize in the structures and diseases of the anus, rectum, and sigmoid colon. Talk about a shitty job...

San Pablo

try over the counter first and If that doesn't go away see your dr.

Battle Mountain

Hi There! My neighbor got rid of her hemorrhoids following some good advice she found on a hemorrhoid blog site. It was written by an expert and gave the pros and cons of all the different treatments available. She used a natural method in the end.By all means see a professional but you might want to check out the blog as well and then see what you think.Hope that helps!Best of luckJo

Why do you get a hemorrhoid or how?

Windom

I just went to the doctors because I was bleeding when I went to bathroom. I have one. The treatment sounds fun. NOT!I don't even know why I got one.

Monmouth Junction

Get to know the hemorrhoid symptoms and learn how to overcome them.Do you experience the following symptoms? If so, you’re probably experiencing hemroids. You’ll always want to consult with a doctor, but there is hemorrhoid relief available, and you can take the necessary steps to get rid of them today.Painful, swollen veins in the rectal and anal area that include pain, itching, and irritation. In more severe cases, you may experience bleeding from the area. This can happen as a result of internal hemorrhoids. You might feel swelling or a hard lump close to the anus area. If so, this is most likely a case of external hemorrhoids.Do you have blood clots that have forming in the hemorrhoidal tissue? If so, you may be experiencing thrombosed external hemroids, which may require surgery. Why do people get hemorrhoids?Studies show that hemroids are attributed to several leading causes, including the increased pressure on the rectal and anal veins that occurs over time. That’s why individuals in their 50s and beyond might experience more hemroids than someone in their 20s.Hemorrhoids can be caused by digestive problems like diarrhea and constipation. Commonly, people also have a poor diet consisting of a very low intake of fiber. Even obesity can have a substantial effect on hemroids and their development. Sometimes, if individuals lift heavy objects, or play rough sports, they may develop them. Pregnancy, hypertension, and other health-related issues may all be attributing factors in developing hemroids as well.

East Compton

There are many factors associated with hemorrhoids. The truth, however, is that researchers still don't understand exactly what triggers them. Constipation is always listed as a factor, but research has shown, for instance, that those who suffer from constipation are at no greater statistical risk to develop hemorrhoids than those who don't suffer from it.Some of the factors might surprise you, such as not eating breakfast. Others seem to be common sense, such as lifting very heavy weights, poor diets, and poor bathroom habits. Many factors also exist beyond your control. The best thing you can do is to educate yourself about the condition, what factors are associated with their development, and what treatment options are out there when you decide to get rid of it.Hemorrhoids tend to be chronic in nature. Once they form, they tend to stay around, sometimes getting better, sometimes worse. If you ignore them, they will generally worsen with time. It's better to address it now rather than when it's much worse and more chronic. There are lots of options, many of them simple and home based. If the condition turns really bad, there are surgical options as well. Even with surgery, however, they can return.Good luck!

I was told to much heavy lifting can cause this.

Why do i bleed when i?

Velva

I've noticed that I bleed when I poo since 2 weeks ago. I went to my GP and he gave me an ointment called Anusol for Hemorrhoids. I've been using this since one week ago but it's not working which it is meant to shrink the piles..I'm really scared that it might be hemorrhoids!! Is there any treatment I can have except surgery?? I heard that natural remedies is good, is it true? Plz help coz I'm really concerned as it is painful and always bleeding..Thanks in advance

Red River

Anusol is for hemorrhoids., which can be painful. Preparation H is also said to be good. If you're also having hard stool, you can buy a stool softener from the drug store. If you don't see it, ask, because it's there. If the stool is softer, the hemorrhoids my be less likely to bleed. If you're losing much blood with it, though, make sure your doctor knows it's not going away. Is the blood red, or is it like coffee grounds? You want to be sure of where the blood is coming from.

Downers Grove

make sure you are eating plenty of fibre and not constipated and strainingif it hurts there could be a fissuresee the dr again if it does not settlesurgery is only recommended for large painful haemarroids, and only after other treatment has failed

Naknek

Read this because it pinpoints the many causes of having 'blood in stool' so maybe you can pinpoint exactly what you might have.. Btw, hemorrhoids are no that bad, my step-father had them .. you just take medicine and they go away eventually.. no need to fear hun

Ravenel

hi ella!home remedies are really helpful. fiber diet is number in the list. drink a lot of water too. sitz bath in warm water will help soothe the pain.there are also herbal remedies or like the prescribed to you. surgery is really the last option. especially for severe kind of hemorrhoid.i'll share to you where i learned these.dne

Will this work or not what type?

Naperville

Ok i am a 12 year old girl and i have hemorrhoids and have been hearing about the apple cider vinegar treatment and i just need to know if normal shop bought apple cider vinegar will work?

Portal

If I had more time to answer this I would ask my doctor. She treats me for free. I am assuming you don't want to go because of the expense? Or perhaps you don't like doctors. Or maybe it's just the delicate nature of the problem?Either way, I don't know about the vinegar.I DO however know that raw aloe vera works like magic. Take an aloe vera leaf(they are nto hard to fine, we even grow our own) and keep it by the toilet. Use it three or so times a day smearing the gell from inside the leaf on and around the effected area. You can put it on the toilet paper or some sort of pad you use for cleaning.I hope you get cleared up soon.

McConnelsville

Remember what causes hemorrhoid flare ups? Right, bacteria. I have used this for years and it is an old remedy and, most importantly, IT WORKS!Take a cotton ball or a cotton pad and soak it in a solution of one tablespoon of regular Listerine to 2 tablespoons of water. "Tuck" it in just slightly to your rectum and leave it there for about 10 minutes. You can do this every 2 to 4 hours till the pain is gone. Buy yourself some moist wipes for the bathroom for a while. I have had 2 kids and did this while I was pregnant with them and it would usually take care of it in one dose, but if you still start to have some pain, you can do it several times through out the day. If it persists or more painful then call your doctor. Hope you find relief soon.
