I think I have hemorrhoids?
So this is the thing, I have rectal bleeding on the outside of my stool.The blood is bright red and does not seem to be dark colored.Sometimes there seems to be a fleshy or mucus substance in the toilet.I really don't have any stomach pain or abnormal symptoms with the bleeding.I'm fairly sure this is not fissures, but I think this might be a hemorrhoid.I've been to the doctor and she said it wasn't anything serious.I've tried miralax, metamucil, and stool softeners which all seem to help but not enough to totally heal the problem.This has been an on going problem for quite some time but doesn't really interfere with my everyday life and doesn't cause me any discomfort during the day.Does anyone have a similar problem or does anyone know what I have? Pesky little dickens, aren't they? Here are my tried and true suggestions. First, try not to be constipated. Straining causes swelling. Second, do not sit on the damp, like the ground or cold concrete. Again, real irritating. Third, use sitz baths, or sit in warm Epsom salts water in the tub. Use medicated wipes, like Tucks, when you have a bowel movement, as toilet paper is too abrasive. Use over the counter medications like Preparation H or some other ointment. Use suppositories, they will provide longer lasting relief than topical cream. The doctor can prescribe a stronger suppository that will work faster,and will contain a numbing agent. Finally, your doctor will decide which is the better treatment for your presenting problem. Both treatments are effective. Good luck.

Hemorrhoidectomy is not that bad. They give you a local, this is the worst, lance and/or remove the hemorrhoids, add a stitch if needed (it usually isn't) then you go home. In office procedure, in and out! Continue to use the suppositories and ointment, take the Metamucil and be sure you drink LOTS of water. You can also try a Sitz bath. Run water, as hot as you can stand it, in the tub. Sit in the tub with the water running, preferably in a position so that the water circulates around the rectal opening. You can also use warm compresses or cold compresses if they feel better (I always preferred cold compresses). Also get some TUCKS to wipe with, the itch hazel in them is very soothing.

hemroidectomy is not the only sugerical option and it sounds like you need surgery buddy. you can do a procedure called "procedure for prolapse and hemaroids" PPH it is an in and out procedure and the recovery time is pretty quick. i am sure it is painful, but works well. any good colorectal surgeon can do it in less than an hour but it does require general anesthesia

If you'll deside to go for the surgery, see that thenafter, you'll keep soft stool. Find what is the reason for hemorrhoids to appear - genetical predisposition, constipation, overweight, too much pressure put in the lower rectum due to prolonged sitting, heavy lifting, pregnancy, etc. From personal experience I recommened Rue Care Oil, it helped 2 persons to avoid surgery. I have constipation predominant IBS with occ. bouts of loose stools but mostly hard painful ones. Recently, the straining for the (lack) of bowel movement seems to have created an internal hemorrrhoid that pokes out during bowel movements and is causing a good deal of pressure and pain. I happen to be in an incredibly difficult time at work right now making taking off for a doctor's appointment a last choice, although i could go to an urgent care after hours if i thought it would be best, and meant that I didn't have to miss work tomorrow. What should I do? I'm on a very high fiber diet that includes both soluble and insoluble fiber and its done nothing, so please don't start with the "more fiber" comments.

I have been there. When I am having loose stools its not a big deal, the only problem is knowing when one dares to go out. On the other hand constipation is hellish. It can be there and one feels desperate to "go", the piles drop and there is no space left to even pass wind (I do hope that no one else is reading this). I never dare take laxatives because this can lead to uncontrollable bowel movements, however large dozes of vitamin C do help. Start off with one gram and if this does not do the trick increase the doze. I have also found that "Milk Thistle" drops help. Of late I have also used a stool softener "Dulco Ease". Then if all else fails try a DIY enema there is one called "Fleet" which I use when I am absolutely desperate. My doctor sugested this when I had a bowel impaction.
