When should i medically treat my haemorrhoid?

I've had it for 3 days... and it hasn't seemed to get much better. I've been using Preperation H as well as icing it and takin warm baths often. I have been laying most of the time, as this makes it less painfull. It is definitly external, I'm 15, female, and I was wondering if I should wait longer to have it go away on its own, or if I should seek medical treatment. Will it be gone by monday, maybe?

It is odd for someone so young to develop one but it should subside on its own. If it does not a doctor may drain the inflamed vein or recommend other treatment. You may be straining while defecating or sitting on the bowl too long. If you need to take stool softeners temporarily, do so.

you are doing the right thing.you need to keep up with the ice. wrap a napkin around an ice cube and go to work. do that about 3-4 times a day. hold the ice cube to it until it is completely melted. you have to shrink the hemmorrhoid. also, be careful what you are eating. lots of fiber. generally we tell patients to get it treated if you have difficulty keeping yourself "clean back there" or if they bleed constantly. obviously the pain and itch, yes, makes most people seek out treatment.

Is it hemorrhoids or something else?

I had a baby 3 months ago, and for a while afterwards every BM I had was extremely painful. It was like I had thousands of shards of broken glass in my stools. I eat pretty dang healthy (only have meat three times a week, lots of fiber and water, tons of different colored fruits and veggies, I get pizza on Fridays but that's about the only real vice, and I know it's not a protein issue because I get lots of vegetarian protein from seafood and certain plants and grains), and it slowly got better but never entirely went away. Now it hurts moderately, even though my stools are a really ideal texture, and I am constantly itchy and sore down there. It stings a ton when I urinate, as the urine drips down there, and I use a squirt bottle with warm water to clean myself afterwards, and that stings like crazy, too! I had my boyfriend take a look, and he says there's a little white "loop of skin" towards the top of my anus (What he meant by "loop" is it's a half-circle shape, it doesn't actually disconnect from the rest of my skin at any part), but other than that everything looks as normal as he can tell. From what I know about hemorrhoids, they're usually a purple-ish color, and if they're painful then they're visible, and they usually look kind of like tiny grapes or cushions. This doesn't seem like it looks like hemorrhoids.There's a ton of bright red blood whenever I have a BM too, to the point where whenever I wipe all I can see is blood, and sometimes I have to wipe several times to get it all.I'm fairly certain I don't need to change my diet, and I've never had anything like this before (when my diet was poor a few years ago, I had IBS symptoms, but they went away when I got pregnant and did a complete dietary overhaul), and I have been doing all the typical hemorrhoids treatments like the squirt bottle and sitting in a bath... any suggestions as to what else it might be, and how I can get rid of it, would be awesome, thank you!

She tells you to hold drip up with left hand and go to public toilet, you have another hemorrhage and have to be resuscitated by a trauma team and end up with 2 drips in each arm and a colostomy.

However, I am not sure that the fact you collapsed was due to their negligence, but rather from profound blood loss. The simple fact of this is you have ended up catastrophically affected by now needing a colostomy and you need to ask the question, why was it necessary to have a colostomy?.Would the haemmorhaging scenario have occured if you had not had the procedures?Were you informed of the risks of both colonoscopy and banding of haemorrhoids during the informed consenting process prior to having them done?.I do question why you were sent to the public toilet with a drip in situ. However if you had not gone you may have haemmorhaged in your bed and perhaps still would have required resuscitation and a Colostomy.The Doctor who sent you to the toilet may have made a bad call but they are not the cause of your Colostomy. However the bad call could have led to you suffering futher injuries not connected to your original health complaint, therefore I would suggest that raising a concern on this matter would be beneficial. I doubt however that it could be deemed negligent unless there were many significant signs that you were already very unwell prior to your trip to the loo on the second occasion.It would be in your interest to determine how long you were waiting for treatment in the Hospital and whether a long delay might have had a detremental effect on the health of your bowel.You need to know from your Consultant Surgeon what caused the haemorrhage and why the need for a Colostomy. Do this in writing so that you get a written reply. Even if you have had a verbal meet with him before. Use you GP to allow you to understand the jargon or he might have the information on record already.Then work from there to realise if you have any further complaints to raise.If you feel that there is a need to formally complain then you must write to the Hospital for them to try to asertain why things went wrong.If errors come to light then you have every right to seek redress. Is hemorrhoids fatal in dogs if not treated?

My standard short haired chihuahua has what I think is hemorrhoids. What makes me think this is the fact that when I looked him over his anus was protruding out and looked swollen. I am no expert with hemorrhoids but this was my first guess. He has been having straining bowel movements. At first he had diarrhea all the time now he has solid fecal-matter which he struggles to push out. The pieces are broken apart and seem to be connected to a stand of hair every time. I am really sorry if this is TMI but my fiance and I have zip, zero, and zilch money to take him to the vet. So if this sounds like hemorrhoids what should I do to treat it? Are there any at home remedies? If not will he die because of no treatment? Any of you who have experience with your dogs and hemorrhoids I am looking for your answers. Thanks.

Dogs don't get hemorrhoids... they can get a prolapsed rectum... Go to the vet!Well..think about whats best for your dog...definately veterinary care..so if you can't afford it then surrender him to the humane society where he can have proper treatment. Its not fair to your dog just because you have no money.

Yeah, not fair at all. But found out it wasn't prolapsed rectum. I was actually just "seeing things"...that's the way they put it. And I found a an animal hospital in Washington that does their business almost free. Thank goodness!

From what you've described it sounds like it could be a prolapsed rectum, and it needs veterinary attention. Your dog will be extremely uncomfortable and painful and you NEED to find a way to get the money and get him to the vet. Denying a suffering animal veterinary treatment is cruelty.
