Gastro esophageal Reflux what is it

    * It is a condition in which the lower esophageal sphincter (muscle located at the end of the esophagus) is abnormally relaxed and allows the acidic stomach contents back and cause irritation.
    * Often accompanied by burning sensation in chest or throat (heartburn), and sometimes you can feel the taste of gastric fluid in the back of the mouth.
    * Among the risk factors for developing the condition include: when part of the stomach moves above the diaphragm is the muscle that separates chest and abdominal cavity, pregnancy, obesity, smoking and alcoholism.
    * Also the use of certain generic drugs reflux, such as anticholinergics (for seasickness), beta blockers (high blood pressure or heart disease), bronchodilators (asthma) blockers, calcium channel blockers (hypertension), dopamine (Parkinson's disease), progestin ( abnormal menstrual bleeding or birth control), sedatives and antidepressants.
    * The most common symptom of GERD is the burning or stinging sensation behind the breastbone to the neck, which is more common to eat fats, chocolate, alcohol, coffee and snuff.
    * Other manifestations include dysphasia or difficulty swallowing, dry mouth, frequent dental infections, chronic cough, belching, bleeding ulcers hidden by the esophageal mucosa, feel that the food can get trapped behind the breastbone and nausea after eating.
