After the reading glasses, there came about the contact lenses. These are a great innovation as the lenses provide the same function as glasses or spectacles. Other than using them as glasses, contact lenses are also being used as treatment for some eye diseases and conditions. Furthermore, contact lenses are also being used for cosmetic purposes, changing the color of the eyes.
Before wearing contact lenses, especially for the purpose of replacing glasses with them, a wearer needs to consult and ophthalmologist and an optometrist. There are certain conditions that a person must meet in order to wear these lenses. Proper hygiene should be practiced when using contact lenses.
What's good about contact lenses is that they are great for treating nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. They are also effective against keratoconus which is an eye condition wherein the eye is irregularly shaped. Bandage soft contact lenses are used for problems in the cornea.
