What is Onycholysis

Onychlysis is a common form of nail diseases in which nail of human separates from the nail bed. It is also called nail lifting. It may be a skin diseases or infection or a result of injury. Due to onycholysis nail become opaque, either whitened or discolored to yellow or green and nail plate my have deformed shape. Triamcinolone 2.5-5 mg/mL diluted with normal saline is injected into the proximal nail fold every 4 weeks in a series of 4-5 sessions.

A 30-gauge needle is competent for medication delivery while a topical anesthetic may be used to reduce pain.

Onycholysis patients should avoid the mechanical cleaning under nails.

Onycholysis patients should avoid contact and trauma.

Tips for Onycholysis Prevention

Keep your nail short; cut it to a comfortable length so that they could bear trauma or injury in every day works.

Keep nails dry.

Avoid the regular use of chemical such as nail polish remover.
