Can cats get hemorrhoids? if so what is the hemorrhoid treatment for cat?

Madisonville

I was wondering whether cats can get hemorrhoids. I noticed that my cat indulging in more than usual tail chasing, scooting, licking and biting near the anal area.

It is extremely important that the moment you see your pet displaying hemorrhoid symptoms, you take it for hemorrhoid treatment. Cat hemorrhoids can be easily treated through a number of ways in most cases.External cat hemorrhoids, though more painful, are generally easier to give hemorrhoid treatment than internal ones. All you need to do in such cases is apply topical ointments and creams to the affected area.Maybe this will guide you....

In cats Hemorrhoids is called rectal prolapse which is an uncommon condition where rectal tissue protrudes through the anal opening. It appears as a tubular piece of tissue attached to the anus. This is caused by straining and irritation from the stomach. If you haven't noticed anything like this, most likely from the scooting and licking and biting, sounds to me like it could be worms. I've had cats that scoot on their hinds and were constipated, which is cause by fur in the stool. When the rubbing behavior is caused by some sort of anal gland disorder, however, then treatment is needed. Anal glands can, however, retain fluid as they become impacted or blocked, infected, or injured, which can cause your cat discomfort, pain, and in some cases, more serious complications.Since you kitty is licking or biting excessively at his anal area or scooting his fanny across the floor, and it has a foul odor, he needs veterinary attention. Treatment usually involves manually expressing the glands, a simple procedure.Cats get tapeworms from fleas; during grooming, if a cat accidentally swallows a flea that contains tapeworm eggs, the cat will get tapeworms. Small tapeworm segments break off from the adult worm inside the cat’s body, and migrate down through the colon, then the rectum, and out of the cat’s anus. Some cats can feel the tapeworm segments migrating out, and it itches, and the cat rubs its anus on the carpet to relieve the itch. Your vet should do a fecal exam to check for worms (although tapeworms don’t always show up on a fecal exam), and will check your cat’s anal glands. Or it could be skin mites around the area. Either way he needs some ointment or some anitibiotics to help him with this problem, as this will stress him out. Most likely parasites, which is extremely tummy related. Hope your kitty gets better fast!

Well, cats don't get their anal glands expressed like dogs. But she could have tapeworm. Do you notice little bits that look like white rice around her bottom? These are tapeworm segments if you do. Fleas also tend to congregate around the back end of cats. If your cat has fleas it more than likely has tapeworms as well.Use a product like Advantage for the fleas (kills 98% within 24 hours and any fleas that bite her will die as well). Use it once a month (its a spot on treatment, easy to apply). I also have used BioSpot with great success. Had a stray that we brought in loaded with fleas. Gave it the biospot topical drops and also used the spray to kill any that were trying to jump off. It only took one treatment and its cheaper than Advantage if money is an issue - and when isn't it an issue these days? You'll have to get treatment from the vet for the tapeworms, but it shouldn't be more expensive than (1) office visit (2) fecal floatation and (3) tapeworm pill.

get the cat to the vet, she may just need to have her anal glands expressed or it could be as serious as a tumor.
