I have the same problem. My husband used to paint the toilet bowl red for 30 years before he seeked help. The doctor tied off his hemmoroids with an elastic band. He had to go back about 4 times for it. It's not the most glamorous way to do it, but you can also try soaking in hot sitz baths. They help greatly.
