What causes haemorrhoids and what are the treatments?

Cadiz

Haemorrhoids are caused by straining too hard while on the toilet. This straining causes blood vessels to burst and hence blood in your stools. To avoid having to exert yourself too much have a diet which provides lots of roughage i.e. eat lots of fruit and vegetables and the occasional spoonful of bran. All this must be accompanied by drinking at least two litres (4 pints) of water a day.Treatment?Mild cases, see your chemist.More serious, a doctor injects and dries them out - takes five minutes.

If you suffer from chronic constipation or are not regular. If the stool is hard, it puts pressure on the muscles. I believe there are creams for heamerrhoids and also surgery is another option.I agree with the other reader about drinking plenty of water and also taking enough fiber in the diet by increasing fruits and vegetables for regularity.

Gaithersburg

firstly haemorrhoid's are not std so therefore this q should be in general health, they are clots of blood and when the thrombosed they get very large and look like black grapes they can be caused by the weight of pregnancy, straining when going to the toilet , treatment vary from creams to surgery dependent on severity of haemorrhoid's
