Best at home treatments for an external hemorrhoid?

Grandview

A fiber-rich diet helps, and lots of water intake for better digestion. Walking after eating helps digestion, too. Then there is what we call sitz bathing; sit down on a tub of lukewarm water, and do this for 15 mins or so after every bowel movement. Also, don't sit too long for a time. Supplements and pain relief capsules also help.

Kind of a generic question but I'll do my best. External hemorrhoids should be treated with a warm bath of baking soda and a seat cushion. Go to amazon and search for egg crate seat cushion and you should find something. The goal here is to give the affected area a chance to heal and for the swelling to go down. Ice packs can also do the job. Also you will want to make sure you are taking something to loosen your bowel movements. You do not want to put any pressure on the hemorrhoid while having a bowel movement. Plums, prunes, cherries, etc all contain lots of fiber which softens stools. Combine that with drinking lots of water and you should be able to have a nice soft bowel movement and give the swollen tissue a chance to heal.
