I've had irritation and itching on-and-off for years, sometimes with a little blood. In the last few months, it's gotten worse and has been a daily problem. My doctor examined me and diagnosed me with proctitus, although they are the same symptoms as hemorrhoids. He prescribed sitz baths and prescription suppositories. That was a month ago and the problem persists. I've been taking 1 sitz bath a day. Should I take more than 1? I did call my doctor and now he's suggesting surgery, which I would like to avoid! Any suggestions?

Repeat 3 or 4 times to relieve pressure. This will help from pushing the little buggers out and keep from bleeding. Surgery as a last result. We all have them. Some people's never get pushed out. To go over your sitz bath procedure, the best thing to do is sit in about 3 inches of warm water for about 15 minutes. Sorry for the many questions on hemorrhoids!So my doc's appointment got moved back to next week to look at my PROLAPSED hemorrhoid. Till then I am helping my body in the following ways:- Increase fiber + water intake.- Avoid going to the john until the "urge" hits. Then I breathe in and out to help avoid straining. Using the characteristics of the primary tumor, its depth of penetration through the bowel, and the presence or absence of regional or distant metastases, the stage of the cancer is derived. Often, the depth of penetration through the bowel or the presence of regional lymph nodes can't be assigned before surgery.With many cancers other than colon cancer, staging plays an important pre-treatment role to best determine treatment options. In colon cancer, almost all colon cancers are treated with surgery first, regardless of stage. Colon cancers through stage III, and even some stage IV colon cancers, are treated with surgery first before any other treatments are considered.SurgerySurgical removal of the involved anatomic segment of colon (colectomy) along with its blood supply and regional lymph nodes is the primary therapy for colon cancer. Usually, on the basis of the blood supply, the partial colectomies are separated into right, left, transverse, or sigmoid. The removal of the blood supply at its origin along with the regional lymph nodes that accompany it assures an adequate margin of normal colon on either side of the primary tumor. When the cancer lies in a position such that the blood supply and lymph drainage lies between two of the major vessels, both vessels are taken to assure complete radical resection or removal (extended radical right or left colectomy). If the primary tumor penetrates through the bowel wall, any tissue adjacent to the tumor extension is also taken if feasible.RadiationRadiation therapy is used as an adjunct to surgery if there is concern about potential for local recurrence post-operatively and the area of concern will tolerate the radiation. For instance, if the tumor invaded muscle of the abdominal wall but was not completely removed, this area would be considered for radiation. Radiation has significant dose limits when residual bowel is exposed to it because the small and large intestine do not tolerate radiation well.ChemotherapyChemotherapy is useful for patients who have had all identifiable tumor removed and are at risk for recurrence (adjuvant chemotherapy). Chemotherapy may also be used when the cancer is stage IV and is beyond the scope of regional therapy, but this use is rare.-

Hi, I took my dog (black lab) to the vet with a very itchy bottom, she was constantly licking it and dragging it along the floor. I noticed a small pea sized swelling which was exactly like hemorrhoids. I made an appointment with the vet but on the day I took her the swelling had gone down. He told me her problem was her anal glands( which when he emptied were not even full) and when I said I thought she had hemorrhoids he poo pooed me and insisted dogs dont get hemorrhoids. (He also did a rectal exam with his finger and said she was fine). I took her home, the poor things itching had not improved and a few days later the pea sized hemorrhoid had returned. After looking this up I now know dogs DO get hemorrhoids and I am very annoyed with my vet. I am interested to know has anyone else had a similar experience with their vet and can I use a human treatment such as preparation H on her? Thank you.

So after I kept going back to my Doctor and him saying the same thing I decided to get another opinion. Anyway I did and in fact I did have to get them surgically removed, ever since that I have never had a problem, so with that being said I think you should get a second opinion and get them removed.
